In 2002, Google ran an uncontrolled “experiment” by simply getting rid of all managers. It didn't go well. So in 2008 a team of researchers set out to prove what some at Google suspected - that managers matter. They then went about developing comprehensive training programs for managers. People for Success has been delivering training programs for over 20 years to support managers to:
We prefer discussions, game-play, practical models over long PowerPoints, dense research and intellectual discussions. Leaders walk away with an actionable plan to implement immediately after our sessions.
We have four Signature Leadership Programs and four Speciality Leadership Programs. Many clients choose to combine and tailor the programs to form a specialised organisation-based leadership program. We work with you to design a program specific to your needs and leadership competency framework.
Leadership is an inside journey of transformation rather than a simple set of skills. Leadership is about having the clarity of conscience and the courage to act for the greater good even when it’s socially dangerous to do so. Leaders must therefore work towards developing self-awareness, impulse control, humility, and the courage to be vulnerable and, at times, disliked.
This is why Leadership is often described as “An Inside Job”. Leadership in Action offers deep personal transformation along with leadership skill development and a suite of practical tools. This truly transformational program includes:
These programs range from 1-2 days in length. It is the Leadership in Action program seperated into different Leadership Topics which include the following topics:
We can tailor the program to include a 360 degree review if required.
Lunch n' Lead sessions are 1.5 hour Zoom sessions over a period of 8 weeks often held on a Friday. Bring your lunch and Interact with leaders from different backgrounds, industries, levels of seniority. Dynamic, interactive, thought-provoking and fun!
Leadership Training and topics are evidence-based, modern, inspiring yet highly practical.
Learn models from the experts such as Simon Sinek, Dr Brene Brown, Patrick Lencioni, Bob Anderson, Dr Mary Gentile, David Rock, Nilima Bhat and many more.
This Leadership Training Program is perfect for emerging managers, relief managers, and new managers. It provides a snapshot of the attitudes, behaviours, language, and actions required to succeed in a leadership role. It includes learning important strategies for managing peers and friends in the workplace.
This leadership training program introduces managers, supervisors, team leaders to the basics of managing people including the importance of self-awareness, developing trust, managing time, navigating conflict situations, addressing performance & behaviour early-on and creating a healthy team atmosphere for people to do their best work.
This leadership training program follows from Management Essentials. Its purpose is to give leaders the mindset, frameworks and practice to develop the essential building blocks of strong teamwork. This program entices leaders away from 'busy work' and 'firefighting' towards the innovative and exciting work of planning with an agile and customer-focused approach.

Previous participants describe their experience of the Leadership in Action Training Program facilitated by Kristyn Haywood
Citing women researchers in Leadership Training not only increases gender equity, it improves the quality of the program. Earlier this year I did an exercise to quantify the proportion of men- and women-authored leadership research referenced by using the Gender Balance Assessment Tool. Our signature program "Leadership in Action" had about 30% of women quoted in the leadership research which is higher than most Leadership Programs. We have now increased this to 50%. Women Leadership researchers and authors make important contributions to Leadership Training. Take BRAVING Trust from Dr Brene Brown's book Dare to Lead and The Empowerment Dynamic cited from Nilima Bhatt's Shakti Leadership or The Values Framework in Giving Voice to Values by Dr Mary Gentile. And, the research of Tasha Eurlich in her work 'Insight about how important self-awareness is when Leading people is groundbreaking. Women Researchers are less likely than men to be cited due to citation bias primarily driven by other men researchers.
There are many men leadership researchers who have contributed wonderful research to Leadership Training programs. Patrick Lencioni's Five Dysfunctions of a Team is an excellent model for building high functioning teams. Daniel Pink's 'Drive' teaches us the truth about motivation. Leaders do well from understanding that Autonomy, Purpose and Mastery energise people to do their best work. Mastering Leadership by by Robert Anderson and William A. Adams discerns the qualities of leadership needed to develop an effective leadership style over time. Bob Anderson developed The Leadership Circle which is by far my preferred leadership development 360 degree assessment as it is well researched and strengths-based. Having gender-balanced researchers adds depth to leadership programs whilst promoting women leadership researchers that are less known. At People for Success Kristyn and the team take gender equity seriously which is why we aim to have gender-balanced research.
